International Iron Metallics Association (IIMA)

IIMA is the global industry association for the ore-based metallics industry, members being producers, traders and distributors of pig iron, direct reduced iron, hot briquetted iron, etc., as well as participants along the iron ore to steel value chain.

Role in the project

• Originator of the project concept
• Member and coordinator of the Supportive Advisory Board
• With NGO consultative status at the International Maritime Organisation, IIMA will be closely involved in development of future maritime regulation and guidance for safe shipment of HBI as the industry moves along the pathway to decarbonisation of iron and steelmaking.

IIMA is strongly committed to the safety of personnel, ship and cargo where maritime transport and handling of ore-based metallics is concerned.

Team

IIMA team is led by Chris Barrington, Chief Adviser, with oversight by IIMA’s Technical Committee (Chair: Christian Böhm, Primetals).
