In our campaign “Partners of HBI C-Flex”, we are introducing the team members of the members of our Supportive Advisory Board and their tasks in our project continuing with the team from the International Iron Metallics Association.
International Iron Metallics Association
The International Iron Metallics Association (IIMA) is a global industry association representing the ore-based metallics sector. Its members account for over 80% of the production and international trade in materials such as merchant pig iron (MPI), direct reduced iron (DRI), hot briquetted iron (HBI), and granulated pig iron (GPI). The IIMA’s mission includes the promotion of ore-based metallics as value-adding raw materials for the iron and steel, and ferrous casting industries, the representation of the collective interests of its members in international industry, trade, and regulatory forums. The association focuses on communication, product and market support, and regulatory support, including chemical industry regulation (e.g., REACH), maritime regulation, and product stewardship.
Advisors of the IIMA, Chris Barrington and Christian Böhm, came up with the basis idea for the HBI-Flex project and guided the idea until the HBI-Flex project was on track. IIMA’s role in the HBI C-flex project focuses on being the coordinator of the so-called Supportive Advisory Board (SAB) members.
The high-level team of IIMA consists of Christian Böhm, chairman of the Technical Committee of IIMA, and in another role supporting Technical Sales for Direct Reduction of Primetals Technologies Austria. For the HBI C-Flex project he is coordinating the members of the SAB group and the Primetals Technologies activities. In his coordination work he is supported by John Atherton, Secretary General of the IIMA, and Ysella Collier, Administration and Communications Manager.
