In our campaign “Partners of HBI C-Flex”, we are introducing the team members of the members of our Supportive Advisory Board and their tasks in our project continuing with the team from the ENERGIRON.

ENERGIRON

ENERGIRON is an innovative and sustainable direct reduction (DR) technology jointly developed by Tenova and Danieli. Ever since it was developed, it has been consistently improving steel production efficiency and quality, making it the most sustainable and cleanest DR technology available on the market. ENERGIRON converts iron ore (pellets or lump) into metallic iron using reducing gases in a moving bed shaft furnace. It is a unique direct reduction technology that lets you choose the best energy source with the same process scheme configuration and without any modification: from natural gas, reformed gas, syngas, to coke oven gas and even hydrogen. ENERGIRON is characterized by its versatility. The continuous development, optimization, and reliability of the ENERGIRON direct reduction process all offer the flexibility of tailor-made solutions for each user

ENERGIRON is actively involved in supporting direct reduction (DR) processes by:

• Expertise in DR technology: Leveraging extensive experience to guide process development and optimization.
• Technical advisory: Assisting in the selection of suitable iron ore sources, defining reduction parameters to replicate ENERGIRON product characteristics on a smaller scale, and providing insights into the reoxidation behavior of the reduced material.
• Industrial validation: Offering the possibility to validate laboratory or pilot-scale results by conducting confirmatory bag tests within a fully operational ENERGIRON industrial plant.
• Collaborative engagement: Working closely with all involved HBI C-flex partners to support in the various work packages as an adviser

ENERGIRON’s involvement ensures that the reduction conditions selected for pilot or lab-scale setups are aligned with industrial standards, helping to recreate the properties and behavior of full-scale ENERGIRON products.
