• Boehm as head of the Technical Committee of the IIMA is one of originators of the HBI C- Flex program (together with Chris Barringtion – Senior Advisor of IIMA)
• Primetals has vast experience in direct reduction being a licensee of Midrex having built several Midrex plants. Primetals has also developed the FINORED direct reduction process (direct reduction based on sinter feed iron ore) and is developing the HYFOR process (direct reduction based on concentrate iron ore). Primetals has developed the COREX and FINEX process (direct reduction based on shaft and fluidized bed technology respectively combined with a coal based melter gasifier)
• Based on this, a high level of experience is available for all stages of the project.
• Primetals will accompany the project during all stages (work package 2, 3, and 4) as a sort of an adviser, will finally summarize the results and will try finally to derive a guidance for safe HBI handling and transport (which is the target of the project).
